Shirley: You deserve all the praise and thanks you will receive for your editorship of Der Blumenbaum for so many years. And it was in addition to the other works you developed to help with German family research. Der Blumenbaum was second to none--so informative, so interesting, and filled with so great a variety of topics. I well remember when you returned to PA many years ago to speak to the PA Chapter Palatines to America and gave the organization well received talks. I also thank you for your inquiries on my behalf regarding the hedge "fencing" around my surname home village of Mehrstetten in Swabia, as well as a recent article picturing the town's famous linden tree planted at the end of the 30 Years War in 1648 and still living. You impressed me that you visited Mehrstetten on one of your many trips to Germany. I was somewhat envious that you had the good fortune to make all those trips to Germany, from which most of my ancestors had come. Thank you so much for giving so much of your time and knowledge to be of help to so many.
I trust that your "retirement" is indeed a time of rest and renewal and that any health issues can be mitigated. I don't know where you are now residing, but I am thinking you may be back in Pennsylvania.
